Hi from Maury Gomberg – Video Services Un-Limited. In recent times I have noticed videographers with great looking websites and after research found them to be fooling clients with outlandish claims and lies. Some even steal work from other legitimate proven video companies.
HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF.
1. Go to the videographers studio. If they want to meet you somewhere else, watch out! (Some Say they have offices, for examples, in Beverly Hills and you find out it’s just a rented by the hour conference Room) This does make it a studio. See where the work is actually performed.
2. Make sure your videographer is legal. By law the videographer is required to display his City License (Permit), State Board of Equalization certificate, and Proof of Insurance. All are required. Some say they are incorporated and only use the term.
3. Check with the Better Business Bureau – See the business ratings www.bbbonline.org Are they members and follow the BBB’s guidelines.
4. If the website looks too good to be true … you’re probably right! If they claim they’ve done it all…watch out. Key words to watch out for, “World’s Only”, “World’s Best”, “Master Videographer”, Me….Me…Me..
5. Awards.. If they claim they won them , prove it. Anybody can claim an award. How long have they been in the area? Why did they leave?
6. Are they showing their own work, or the work of others that they are misrepesenting. We actually have had our work stolen and being used by videographers. You would think IF their work was so good they wouldn’t have to use others work.
6. If they offer other services other than video, generally that means they aren’t giving all their attention to your needs. Video Services Un-Limited specializes in only video production. This is what we do best and don’t farm out college kids to provide other services.
We don’t mean to scare you, we just want you to do the research. After all, this is your most precious day or a project that represents your business. Good Videos to you!
